• Provide call support to clients and brokers for calls related to tax reporting.• Train and supervise junior tax reporting representatives.• Validate and review client position holdings and update cost basis lots utilizing spreadsheet or manual calculations.• Understand and identify resources to articulate clearly both verbally and in writing to clients the following cost basis calculations. - Wash Sales. - Option Assignments and Exercises. - Alternate disposal method strategies. - Specific share trades. - Corporate Actions. - Fixed Income adjusted cost basis.• Use internal mainframe system, tax lot accounting software, and other internal and external vendor software programs to service inquiries.• Meet targeted daily high volume goals set by management of cost basis lot updates and corrections during peak busy time periods.• Understand when there is a system deficiency of tax information reported to the client and escalate to appropriate team leads.• Review and validate tax forms (1099, 5498) for data accuracy and understand unique characteristics for each business group supported by the organization.• Obtain a working knowledge of retirement distributions and calculations for federal, state and NRA tax withholdings.• Obtain a working knowledge of IRS compliance mailings such as B, C notices, W-9, W-8 mailings.• Communicate issues with client management and external clients via telephone and service center, as needed.• Research and answer questions regarding tax reporting and cost basis and have an understanding of what source the client is referring to such as monthly statements and online views.• Gather and track information to assist team lead with data analysis.• May participate in projects, brainstorming sessions and testing, as necessary, on an ongoing basis.• Make proactive reach-outs to internal associates and external customers through electronic communications and phones with resolutions to researched inquiries.
