Lead a team of Compression Engineers tasked with long term and short term projects and day-to-day activities such as shift checks and troubleshooting. Manage vendor engagement, research and test new compression technologies, develope stategies for future initiatives for linear and non-linear transmission of services, define capital projects and director all day-to-day activities to the Compression Engineering team. The Compression team supports all engineering activities of the Discovery TOC monitoring system and real-time tools for service impacting alerts and provide engineering support for compliance tools.

Perform initial escalation of trouble events and provide group notifications of issues and follow through to resolution. Tasked to lead live events from an acquisition standpoint and check in feeds from various sites connected via fiber or downlink.

The Technical Director was responsible for operating the production switcher during the newscasts, ensuring all studio and production control equipment was operational, working with director and floor manager on show blocking and lighting cues and supervising the technical staff.While in this position, I would act as a fill-in director for AM and PM newscasts, assist the editing staff with late incoming video, assist the promotions and marketing teams with their technical needs and assist the Operations Manager with fleet and live truck work.

Responsibilities included operation of the production switch and DVE, run all tape and file based play back for news stories, work with producing staff to successfully complete all objectives for each show. and coordinate with management team on new graphic looks and deployments, and coordinate special events and projects related to technical operations. The Senior Director was also responsible for supervising the production and technical staff, assisting the production manager with hiring duties and yearly staff reviews.

Operator Master Control switcher and maintain the 24x7 automation system for news play-out. Responsibilities included automation system configuration and maintenance. Staff and operate all acquisition room for all incoming feeds, whether they be fiber, satellite or file.
