I am a senior technology leader with a PhD from MIT and a strong record of achievement in international business. With a background in Physics, I began my career at CERN doing research at the LEP particle accelerator (predecessor to the LHC). In addition to academic studies, I learned how to work as part of a large international collaboration as well as the fundamentals of software development (and plumbing!).I then moved into industry, joining a major Internet Service Provider at the height of the 90s dot.com boom. There I took leading roles in pan-European technical operations and data center management.Since 2004 I have been part of the IT department of Philip Morris International. I have had the opportunity to take roles of increasing responsibility across many different functions, including Project Management, IT Strategy, Master Data Management, Information Security and Enterprise Architecture. As Global Head of Core Infrastructure Services, my current focus is on large scale infrastructure management and cloud computing.I am passionate about technology and the power it has to transform business and the world at large. I am particularly excited by Infrastructure as Code, Software defined Everything, DevOps, Agile/Scrum, Data-driven operations and Serverless computing.But just as important, I love building high-performance teams and helping talented people develop to their full potential.
