I love working with clients to help them solve problems and deliver their priorities, and I'm delighted to share my experience, ideas and network of contacts both from PwC and outside.I provide specialist assurance and advice to companies with exposure to commodities, focused on developing their hedging and trading strategies, improving the business’s governance, risk assessment and risk management capabilities and the design and operation of controls. I have 19 years’ experience working with commodity trading companies in Europe, Asia and Middle East:- Advising companies on commodity risk exposure and developing their hedging and trading strategies.- Helping established commodity traders take a fresh look at their governance and controls, providing recommendations against leading practice. - Working with new commodity traders, both pre and post the start of operations to conduct trading safely and in line with the risk appetite of the Board. - Advising on leading edge fraud prevention and detection measures.- Working with Internal Audit in an outsource, co-source or subject matter specialist capacity to address a range of risks – financial and operational.- Helping Risk Committees understand the risks facing the business and articulate their current state of assurance from controls as well as their desired state.Before focusing on Commodities Management I was the audit senior manager on FTSE utilities businesses with interests in upstream oil, gas and power, renewables, LNG and networks. I also led the audits of mining companies and private energy trading businesses. I love to travel and have enjoyed working with companies in Africa, Asia and the Middle East; in 2008/9 I enjoyed a secondment to Kazakhstan. I appreciate the importance of cultural differences in creating a dynamic workplace, but also appreciate where these can be barriers to openness and challenge – key attributes for good governance and controls.
