Managing the client relationship with the London Borough of Southwark my role changes every day. The contract relies on around 100 skilled and experienced people, who go above and beyond every day. It's my job to act as the interface between the client's aspirations and the operations on the ground. What that means varies every day for every scheme and every project manager or engineer.

Detailed design and construction supervision of Mini-Holland scheme work.Waltham Forest is delivering of a large portfolio of challenging schemes across the borough, with many limitations on delivery dates or budgets. The Mini-Holland scheme aims to monitor the widespread use of high quality cycle facilities over a large area, and the impacts that it will bring.Retro-fitting these facilities into a dense urban environment brings challenges on every aspect of Highway Engineering. As part of the construction management team, it is our responsibility to deliver the proposed designs in the most time-efficient and cost-effective ways.

Based within PPD, I was brought in to improve TfL's behaviour around utilities, and review their approach to utility diversions on Major Schemes. The procedure was overhauled and new processes and procedures put in place. After finding significant savings, and establishing strong links with utility companies, the remit increased to overall construction management.Building a team we were tasked to look at all projects, and find cost savings through redesign, interrogating construction details, reduction of risk, or any other holistic improvements that could reduce cost or programme.This involved working directly with the client and project teams, external consultants, design and construction contractors, and third parties.
