After completing a pre-academy, the OCSD basic Police Academy, a Field Training Program, and a probationary period; I was assigned to the Field Operations Division and conducted patrol operations. As a solo police officer, I have conducted proactive and reactive enforcement as well as community-oriented and problem-oriented policing. I have responded to 9-1-1 calls for emergency and non-emergency requests for service. I have performed simple and complex investigations on patrol ranging from shoplifting and simple battery investigations to complex fraud and sexual assault investigations.

I was selected for the collateral position of a field training officer after submitting a memorandum of interest to include related qualifications, passing a written test, oral interview, and practical exercise. I completed a 40-hour POST certified field training course through the Orange County Sheriff's Department. As a field training officer, I have trained ten (10) newly sworn, police academy graduates in real-world conditions in various phases to prepare them to work as solo police officers.

I conducted follow-up investigations on homicides, robberies, domestic violence, rape, officer-involved shootings, carjackings, and other violent crimes. I held collateral responsibilities as a Terror Liaison Officer, Missing Persons Investigator, and Monitoring/Registering Sex Offenders. Before this assignment, I was assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit where I conducted follow-up investigations on child sexual assaults, child abuse, neglect, and abandonment as well as child abduction cases. Before that, I was in the Economic Crimes Unit where I conducted follow-up investigations on auto thefts, burglaries, identity theft, and fraud cases.

Due to staffing issues at the time, I was assigned full-time to the Crime Scene Investigations Unit. I assisted patrol operations and the Investigations Bureau on processing crime scenes. This included but was not limited to taking photographic evidence, dusting for fingerprints, and swabbing for DNA evidence. I reviewed and obtained video surveillance evidence. I also collected and booked evidence related to the crime scene. I received 80-hours of advanced POST training at a field evidence technician course hosted by Cal State Long Beach and other subsequent training related to DNA evidence and photographic evidence.

After completing an application, oral interviews, and a background check; I was assigned to the 316th MP (DET) CID . I was sworn in as a federal agent for the United States Army after completing a 15-week federal law enforcement training academy in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. I later deployed to Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and was assigned to the Protective Services Battalion (PSB) under the executive order of Operation Enduring Freedom. I conducted protective service missions for the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of the Army, and the Chief of Staff of the Army as well as foreign counter parts.

I completed the 10-week Civil Affairs Course at the US Army John F Kennedy Warfare Center and School. I was assigned to the 425th Civil Affairs Battalion. I deployed to Afghanistan and was assigned to a Provincial Reconstruction Team in the provinces of Metar Lam, Urozgan, and Kandahar under the executive order of Operation Enduring Freedom. I conducted civil affairs operations while attached to the 36th Army Infantry Division, the 4th Army Infantry Division, the 2nd Army Infantry Division, and the 82nd Army Airborne Division.

I was assigned to the Property and Evidence Bureau. I was responsible for documenting, booking, storing, and retrieving property and evidence as well as maintaining the chain of custody for the purposes of court and legal processes. I was responsible for shuttling patrol cars and other fleet vehicles to maintenances shops and service departments as well as keeping equipment serviceable. I obtained estimates for contract work from private venders and assisted with managing those accounts for services awarded to those accounts.
