I came with Teach for America's charter corps to Hawai`i and began in high school math, including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. I later offered Pre-Calculus and Statistics because I requested that we teach those courses on our school's campus (they were previously only offered through distance learning). The program was project-based and student centered, and all of my lessons, daily agendas, assignments, and the students' grades resided in an online system. After two years in that position where I moved up with my students, I was selected to be my school's AVID teacher, a coveted position where I taught one class each of 7th through 12th grade that focused heavily on preparing my students for college-level reading and writing. During that year, I also managed a team of tutors for my students. During that last year at my school.
