In-House Counsel - Counsel Ii
CurrentWorks in both the Insurance and Financing teams on various major projects such as the Federal Lands Initiative (FLI), the Canada Greener Home Loan (CGHL), and the Senakw programs. Provides sound and practical legal advice and insight to internal CMHC clients- CGHL: provided legal advice and support for the establishment of the energy efficiency retrofit loan program, including putting legal agreements in place, advice on procurement activities and all other aspects of the program - FLI: drafting and reviewing documents including the APS, Loan Agreements, MOU, Term Sheets, and Framework Agreements Provides day to day operational and transactional support to the team and external counsel- Advises on risk and strategic issues, and manage these elements with internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives- Provides legal support related to operational policiesIdentified, recommended and applied efficiencies in the delivery of legal services relating to conveyancing- Senakw: reviewing documents including the Head and Sub Leases, Loan Agreement and actively learning while participating in meetings and keeping up to date with the closing agenda - Co-chair of the articling program: selecting and interviewing candidates, as well as establishing relationships with the two LPP programs in Ontario, and acting as principal to the articling students- Contributes to the culture of legal services and our team: participates in initiatives of Work Life Balance; Mental Health; Half-Days of Learning; FrancoFun; lunch and learns, no shop talks, etc. - Implementing the delivery of the new legal request systemEngaging with our business lines and team members to understand priorities and ensure that there is a clear understanding of when and how to access our services
