Worked as part of applied Neurobiology & Anatomy lab to assist spinal cord injury rehabilitation research through robotic software development. Helped the team experience the capabilities and fidelity of the new generation Phantom Omni Haptic Device. Implemented a Force Feedback demonstration to simulate the dynamics of a virtual 6DOF thin blade in fluid on the Omni. Blade motion was restricted by the viscous damping of the fluid and opposed motion normal to the blade's surface in any orientation. Also implemented a tool to calculate and display forward and inverse kinematic data to assist users of a stereotaxic surgery rig.

Designed framework using Microsoft DirectX to allow computer-vision from low cost web-cams for Configurable Robotic Agent (CRA), a small low-cost robot designed to autonomously clear unexploded ordnance from large areas.Implemented a suite of real-time Optic Flow based algorithms for visual computation of odometry and heading.Investigated dense disparity for obstacle avoidance. Created an obstacle detection module using heavily filtered vergence data gathered from sparse optic flow. Supervised a fellow undergraduate student in continued development of obstacle detection for use on CRA robot.

Worked with lab graduate student Nathan Sprague investigating resource auctioning in the perceptual system of a virtual humanoid using Iris Performer on SGI Onyx2 supercomputing hardware.
