I specialise in commercial disputes and have particular experience managing large, complex cases. I regularly appear as counsel in the Courts, in mediation and in various specialist tribunals.I am engaged in a wide range of commercial litigation and disputes work. My practice includes contract, defamation, estate, insolvency, insurance, judicial review, property, professional liability & discipline and trust disputes.I lead the firm’s Wellington litigation and dispute resolution team and am the immediate past chair of Duncan Cotterill’s partnership and board.I am a past president of the New Zealand Insurance Law Association Inc (NZILA) and am currently the Treasurer and a member of the Presidential Council of the International Insurance Law Association (AIDA). I have been in practice for more than 20 years and in that time have worked at a leading litigation firm in London, and as a judge’s clerk at the High Court. I am a contributing author to various legal texts published by LexisNexis, Chambers and Partners and Thomson Reuters and speak regularly at industry events and conferences on dispute resolution and insurance law. I am admitted in England and Wales and a recipient of the Cleary Memorial Prize.
