Jonathan likes to think he is an entrepreneur, tries very hard to live up to his own expectations as a business adviser/coach and definitely owns a business.He maintains his status as a Chartered Engineer, in the rather endearing assumption that it gives him some credibility.Knowing that their days as perpetual students were numbered and that the tax-payer was unlikely to keep them in the style to which they wished to become accustomed, he and two pals founded an engineering consultancy. Amazingly, given their questionable lack of experience as engineers and total lack of knowledge about how to run a business, the company was quite successful.Realising that he really ought to learn how a business actually worked and not rely on luck, he decided he could either become an accountant or join the Inland Revenue.The decision wasn't difficult.There followed six years of superb training, experience of loads of different businesses and great fun (really).He then spent a while swanning around Australia pretending to run an air-conditioning business before coming back to the UK because he missed beer, curry and the weather (not all of those is true).He spent 12 years as a business adviser and Head of Advisory Services for Serco, working with some 300 businesses across all sectors. Some of them survived.He is a founder and director of Business Think, a private sector provider of business support services, where (he’ll tell you) he helped businesses ‘make more money, more easily and have fun doing it’. He is now a relatively silent partner in the business, much to the relief of co-director Elliot Forte.He is the author, with Elliot, of a step-by-step guide designed to help entrepreneurs achieve their life goals rather than focusing on growth for growth’s sake. Or, in other words, Life Led Business.These days he can be found mostly in France, where he and his wife run Ski First Tracks™, a post-Brexit and (hopefully) post-Covid business providing great value home-from-home catered chalet holidays to (mainly) British skiers.Oh, and he’s a qualified electrician, reasonable skier, an old git on a snowboard and a rubbish surfer
