- Fee Earner Road Traffic Accident/Employers/Public Liability Department- Fee Earner Specialist Credit Hire Team- Fee Earner Specialist Costs Team- Promoted to Associate (Equivalent)I joined legacy firm Dibb Lupton Broomhead as a junior fee earner in the RTA department dealing with property damage and personal injury claims on behalf of major insurers, before moving on to deal with EL/PL claims.Subsequent to the firm's merger with Alsop Wilkinson, I was hand picked by Partners to join a new credit hire team to consider the validity of and oppose where necessary, claims for credit hire and credit repair brought by third parties.In light of the successes of that team, I was again hand picked to help set up and develop with Partners a new costs team, acting on behalf of major insurers and commercial clients to consider the validity of and oppose where necessary, claims for costs from third parties as well as recovery of costs for clients in successful cases. I acted for the defendants in complex litigation test cases which reached the Court of Appeal regarding the enforceability of Conditional Fee Agreements and Collective Conditional Fee Agreements (Hollins v Russell & Others; Thornley v Lang) as well as numerous test cases in the Supreme Court Costs Office and on appeal in the County Court (e.g. Richards v Davis, Culshaw v Goodliffe).I was closely involved with the firm's costs strategy and was a contributor to the costs section of thefirm's Personal Injury handbook for clients. I regularly dealt with conduct of litigation, both in recovery of costs and opposing costs on all sizes of bills relating to RTA, PL, EL, aviation, professional negligence and commercial cases. Such litigation including drafting of bills of costs, points of dispute, part 18 requests, applications and where necessary appeals.
