About Jonathan Sherer
My career in water and wastewater treatment has been like a winding river in many respects. Meandering, beautiful, and reflective in parts; rocky, exciting, and challenging in others. I feel like the river really began when I was an intern at the City of Columbia, SC Waterworks my senior year in college. I then went on to learn so much in my consulting career at American Engineering and B.P. Barber that made me the Engineer that I am today. I spent 7 years with the City of Columbia Water works where I worked with a team of talented individuals that worked every day to improve a 110 year old water system with lots of needs. We got to see every shining moment and every blemish on the front lines in this engineered system. In 2017 I was offered the opportunity to join the Greenville Water Team as the Assistant Director of Water Resources. The mountains in the background takes my breath away everyday and the beauty of the area constantly reminded me of how lucky I am to be able to work in this area. Every day I have the challenge of making a really good treatment plant and process even better. Everyday I learn something new about the system and the staff that makes me glad to be a part of this awesome team.
