About Jonathan Shirley

I have been working in the industrial cleaning/maintenance field since 1999. I started off with a traveling crew out of West Virginia in 1999, lending labor support for outages all over the country, in many different industrial settings. I was asked to move several times within that company and did so. After leaving that company, I have taken every opportunity to advance my career, learning the sales, office, and field aspects of the industry. I work in an industry that I enjoy and God willing will remain in the rest of my working life. I am married with 3 kids, ages spanning two to ten. I am an avid gun owner and NRA member. I also collect and enjoy working on cold war era tube and analog guitar equipment, as well as currently learning to build guitars. I enjoy hunting, and participate in wildlife management in North Carolina, Ohio, and West Virginia.

    I started out as a laborer on a road crew based out of West Virginia. Worked approx. six months on the road crew and was asked to move to Mooresville, NC to help establish a shop in that area. I worked at that office for five years, and as a part of that office, helped take it from a quarter million dollars the first year to 2.5 million when I left. During this time I learned to troubleshoot and repair, operate, perform all preventive maintenance, effectively setup and use all field equipment, to include, but not limited to; Ace Super sucker vacuum trucks, Guzzler Classic Vacuum Trucks, Guzzler NX Vacuum Truck, NLB, Partek, Butterworth, Jetstream, and American 10 and 20k pumps, and Jet Edge, Jetstream, NLB, and Admac 32, 36, and 40k UHP pumps. During this time I moved from a technician to a crew leader/site manager position. In my time at Onyx I served as an account manager for DuPont May Plant in Camden, SC. I took care of all scheduling, ordering of safety and all other equipment, controlling OT, and responsibility for P&L and margins for this account for almost two years. In that time we never had an accident onsite and had very few safety issues. For anyone who knows DuPont’s stringent safety program, or the PP18(what eventually became the water blast standard for all petro and chemical plants), this is an amazing feat. We also remained profitable the entire time we had this account. I also planned/ran countless outages at refineries, chemical plants, paper mills, steel mills, and nuclear/hydro/and fossil fuels power generating stations. In the five years I was at Onyx I never had a recordable incident, and never had a crew member injured.
