Technical Project Management from small 3 month to large scale multi year projects.Projects have included the technical delivery of F&C's upgraded Trade Processing platform based on Sun hardware running multiple Solaris Zones and ZFS file systems, using EMC Clariion SAN attach with Oracle Database using ASM and IBM Websphere Application Server running SmartStreams TPM product. Delivery of F&C's treasury dealing and support platform thinkFolio running on Microsoft Windows 2008R2 and SQL Server 2005 with VMWare ESX virtualised application server.Other systems delivered include F&C's in house developed Central Benchmark delivery application, running on virtualised Database and Application servers. Delivery of a suite of in house developed encrypted file transfer solutions to F&C's counterparties.With a very strong technical background I make significant contributions to system and infrastructure design and provide a high level of QA to strategy, design and the end delivery including operational and disaster recovery procedures.

The team comprising 11 members at its peak across the London and Edinburgh sites was responsible for all Unix platforms, Database Administration covering Oracle and SQL server, the EMC and Netapps storage, Microsoft Exchange, the Enterprise Scheduling service and System & Application Monitoring Service. As well as supporting these platforms, the team was the principal source of technical resource to projects. In this period F&C completed its integration with ISIS Asset Management which involved new build or upgrade of and then migration of both business to the current Front & Back Office Systems. Both storage platforms, the scheduling platforms and the backup infrastructure were also upgraded to support the integration.

Post merger of F&C and ISIS I was asked to manage the old F&C Infrastructure Operations whilst continuing with my Unix and Storage responsibilities. The 5 technical analysts in the London Office continued to support the legacy F&C infrastructure whilst the migration to the new systems was undertaken. This required careful political skills whilst dealing with IT infrastructure in a very poor state.

A projects and support role for the Unix estate including Sunfire 6800/6900’s and various V and E series sun servers and Solaris 8 with some Veritas Volume Manager, also some IBM pSeries machines. The role expanded to include build and system administration of the Netapps and EMC Clariion storage. I designed the documentation standards and systems for Systems Design, Procedural and System Architecture documents to aid both project and support staff and this is still in use today.

Lead a team of 11 Technical Analysts providing mostly project resource on the Bank of Scotland contract. The Unix estate consisted of IBM SP nodes and pSeries machines running AIX. Oracle & Sybase Database were used depending on the system. Won 3 IBM prizes in 2 years with IBM.
