Started off in BBC New Media and Technology (now Future Media and technology) working on projects such as the BBC Connector pilot (chat around content, a scalable innovative chat system that let people talk to others looking at the same page on the website) and Content Management Culture (metadata driven content management system used around the regions). The moved to BBC News to work on a jivesoft based forum system used for Have Your Say, and rolling the system out across 12 World Service languages, including the challenges of localisation for right-to-left languages and simplified/traditional Chinese. Worked for a while on MPS (Media Publishing System) before moving to the Broadcast Systems Development Team in 2010 to work on the Jupiter project, the in house media asset management system (MAM) used by BBC News for all video assets.

A small internet startup creating social web software, most notably storChat, used by Channel 4 to run live web chats, and storTroopers, avatar creation software used by Warner Bros on the official Harry Potter movie website. I developed the server side of these applications, using Java, and the integration with client sites/systems. I also created a fully templated web forum system, storBoards. Sadly, Stor did not survive the bursting of the .com bubble.

Agency.Com took over Online Magic, which became Agency.Com: London. Worked on websites such as wc98.com for the World Cup sponsored by General Motors, British Airways, Channel 4, and also spent some time in the Colorado office working on projects for Sprint, as well as some time in the New York office. Most work by now was C++ and starting to use various frameworks. The Sprint work was based on Vignette Storyserver using Tcl.

One of the first web agencies, I was employee number 5. Started writing CGI code in C and C++. Worked on websites for companies such as The Economist, Channel 4, and Sky Sports
