Group Financial Controller
Current• Lead on various business simplification transactions in order to streamline the Irish and the UK operations and the legal structure, saving operating costs, reducing tax charges and minimising audit fees and other company compliance costs. • Key member of multi-disciplinary team responsible for implementing new world-wide company structure under the UK and determining most appropriate solutions. Areas included accounting impact of choice of GAAP and tax issues concerning new ATCA, the patent box regime and maximising recoverability of with-holding tax on royalties. • Responsible for Group tax reporting and tax compliance for both the UK and Ireland – reporting in accordance with US GAAP to the US Tax Department. • Project Lead on due diligence of acquisition targets in order to confirm the validity of assets and liabilities and evaluate the commercial potential of the business to ensure the ITW Acquisition Model was still valid. • Responsible for recommending new accounting framework to replace UK GAAP. Created Impact Assessment Report on various options available - full IFRS, FRS 101 or FRS 102. FRS 102 selected as it maximised the tax relief available thereby reducing the Group’s effective tax rate.• Manage audit of Irish and UK legal entities with £650m turnover, being principal contact with Auditor and Financial Controllers. Reduced reporting timescale from nine months to three months thereby freeing up time to work on more value added projects. • Project lead on web-based tax pack to efficiently collect and report detailed consolidated data for ITW Ltd tax compliance from forty-five diverse business divisions. • Managed Irish and UK banking relationship, cash pooling arrangements and overnight deposits
