I lead a team of research scientists responsible for the hit to lead, and lead to candidate discovery and research phases for veterinary biopharmaceuticals and vaccines. In the therapeutic antibody space, my team is responsible for antibody discovery, species-ation, affinity and effector engineering, lead optimization, and cell line generation.In the vaccine space, my team focus on viral reverse genetics, vector design, nucleic acid (RNA and DNA) vector platforms, and protein antigen engineering. We employ a wide variety of contemporary research techniques including structure-based antigen design, antibody engineering, and synthetic biology. Fundamental applications of molecular biology, immunology, cell biology, and protein biochemistry are core to our work.

I lead an Elanco discovery biology team that designs, engineers, and evaluates novel vaccine and biotherapeutic candidates.

In a unique joint industrial / academic collaboration, I studied novel methodologies designed to mitigate the lack of an authentic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) cell culture model in addition to the design and characterization of new oncolytic virus vectors.

I obtained my PhD in Molecular Virology in December 2012. I utilized multiple experimental approaches including reverse genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology to elucidate the assembly pathway of a genus of important human pathogens, the alphaviruses.

I was involved in the support and development of high-throughput immunoassays (IVDs) designed to analyze small-molecule and glycoprotein endocrine hormones in an FDA-regulated cGMP environment.
