Engineering Specialist - Project Engineer / Systems Engineer
Bell Flight designs, manufactures, and maintains military and civilian aircraft, notably helicopters. The H-1 program is one of the longest running military helicopter programs within Bell and is sold and supported both domestically and internationally.RESPONSIBILITIES / ACHIEVEMENTS:• Working as a Project Engineer / Product Owner in Bell’s H-1 Lead Technology Integrator Team (LTI) for two major projects: SWAP-T (Size, Weight, Power, and Thermal) and DI / Link-16 (Digital Interoperability) where I utilize Earned Value (EV) Management and Agile Methodologies to track and maintain project schedule and budget to build customer satisfaction and confidence in promoting future contracted efforts.• Leading cross-functional team tasked with performing engineering analysis on the impacts of integrating aircraft system upgrades or design improvements requested by our government customer (NAVAIR) and proposing innovative design solutions meeting customer requirements.• Developing, presenting, and delivering non-recurring engineering (NRE) contract proposals (Impact Statements) to the customer, resulting in NRE contracts for the Bell H-1 program.• Communicating and collaborating with my NAVAIR Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) to track project status, provide task cost estimates, and develop project scope and technical requirements to inform project Capability Statements.• Built relationships to foster better communication and collaboration between engineering teams and streamline the design process, including holding weekly cross-functional meetings early in the project lifecycle, which enabled my team to meet our customer’s tight timeline.• Led development of a successful contract proposal for a very high-priority project to Bell’s NAVAIR customer that was brought in over $1mil+ of funding for Bell’s H-1 program. Was awarded the Textron Tributes Honor Award for my leadership of this successful proposal.
