Jonathan T. Stender focuses his practice on representing management in a wide spectrum of labor and employment matters, both administratively and in litigation, including workers’ compensation, OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, civil rights, discrimination, wrongful discharge, and intentional torts.Jonathan graduated cum laude with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Russian Language and Literature and Political Science/International Relations from the University of Washington in 1994. He received a Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University Law School in 1998. At Case, Jonathan was executive editor of the Journal of International Law, a member of the National Moot Court Team, and recipient of the prestigious Dunmore Award, for excellence in appellate advocacy.Prior to practicing law, Jonathan served as a Cryptologic Special Operations Team supervisor in the Naval Security Group, United States Navy. He is the author of "Challenges to the Control of Strong Crypto and the National Security Perspective," 30 Case W. Res. J. Int'l Law 287 (1998), and is a certified Russian interpreter and translator.Jonathan also has written and spoken on a wide range of employment and workers' compensation issues. Recent publications include, "Navigating The Minefield Of Military Leave," "Ohio Drug Testing Law Covering Workplace Injuries Ruled Unconstitutional," and "ADA Direct Threat - The Supreme Court Has Finally Spoken."Jonathan is admitted to practice in Ohio and the U.S. District Court Northern District of Ohio, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association.Mr. Stender is AV Preeminent peer rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been named a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine. Additionally, Jonathan also is fluent in Russian.
