Import General Manager across the Sainsbury's Argos Group

General Manager for Sainsburys International Imports. Operating in over 50 ports covering a range of commodities including clothing, general merchandise, bws and food.

Leading a large operational team responsible for all freight movement for Sainsburys. We source globally through all major countries covering the Far East, ISC and Europe. We import GM, Clothing, BWS and Food through the close management of 10 third party suppliers importing circa 40,000 Teu per annum. The service we deliver has to be both efficient and effective to meet the needs of our customers.

I headed up a new Flow team in the non food area of Sainsbury's. The Flow team are accountable for the flow of product between supplier and Uk DC. The team are responsible for ensuring we have the right product, in the right place at the right time. The team work with key stakeholders across trading, imports and distribution centres to allow the most effective and efficient flow of product. I utilised my skills and expertise learnt at Asda to drive the Sainsbury's non food business forward.

I was repsonsible for planning and maximising the use of the UK's largest clothing distribution network. I was instrumental in changing from a national to a regional distribution network. I was also accountable for the long term planning and ensuring we had a network that was fit for purpose and able to serve for the foreseeable future.
