Designed and developed an internal ticketing system for the IT department. I built the system using the Laravel PHP framework as a platform to reduce overall development time, as well as to facilitate making changes to the application. A MySQL database served as the primary storage layer. The system as a whole succeeded in consistently reducing overall issue response times and served as a knowledge base of common IT-related issues.Designed and implemented a secure USB solution that interfaces with the School of Dentistry's primarily used EDR, the Salud Dental Suite. The AutoIt-built desktop solution provided seamless USB event triggered authentication and chart authorization for faculty members. The script allowed for significant improvement of their workflow without the requirement of peripheral devices per machine and expensive third-party software.

I was part of a team of 5 database engineers responsible for over 300 Oracle databases. Each database served as the storage layer for a version matched installation of the SuccessEHS EHR software. In addition to comprehensive database management, regular operational tasks included: RMAN backup management, database server auditing, database-related slowness troubleshooting, performance tuning, version control, and regular after-hours work to meet deadlines, among numerous other responsibilities. The larger client-base demanded we invest heavily in the streamlining of regular operational tasks, so a significant amount of time was spent developing automation solutions. We primarily accomplished this by writing and maintaining custom unix shell-scripts, among other automation techniques.

This role involved performing PHP/Python development daily on projects including CMS plugin development (FrogCMS / WolfCMS), MySQL database design, development, and maintentance, as well as eCommerce systems integration allowing for online donation submission for non-profit clients. I also designed and developed a powerful PHP-based customer-facing reporting tool for clients allowing them to access and export their data at will.

While studying Software Engineering, I also worked at the on-campus Poultry Science Building, where I gained valuable hands-on software analysis, design and implementation skills. In this role, I primarily designed and implemented a virtual simulation of a real-world agricultural facility for educational purposes using a web-based development environment called Second Life.
