Responsible for ongoing development and maintenance of expatriate tax system for the preparation of client tax returns through accommodation of annual tax legislation changes and extension the scope of the applications making up the system. Support consisted of liaising with key accounts on the requirements of their clients, including some of the leading global organisations.The system was written in VB6 and Oracle PL/SQL.Key achievements• Migration of standalone collection of simple VB4 applications to integrated suite of VB5 executables, object-oriented business components and standardised interface controls;• Ongoing annual development of this suite, including migration to VB6 and support for multi-year operation;• Prototyped module to interact with HMRC's electronic filing interface, before subsequent development in C#.Net;• Rapid in-code debugging of support calls and provision of ad-hoc solutions for exceptional cases;• Implemented solution to publish client documents in PDF format online;• Provided standardized reporting interface for external developers to make use of summary client financial data; • Managed internal organization changes including the move of development from the Tax Department to the IT Department.
