• Globally responsible for all legal matters at Samsung NEXT, the world-wide acquisition, joint-venture, investment, strategy and innovation division of the consumer-facing side of Samsung Electronics• Provided solutions-driven, business-minded legal oversight of its M&A, partnerships, venture capital, accelerator, product development and commercialization, HR and marketing initiatives, as well as those of its controlled subsidiaries• Directly advised Samsung Electronics’ Chief Innovation Officer / Samsung NEXT’s President• Managed legal issues across Samsung NEXT’s offices in: Mountain View, CA; San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Seoul, Korea; Tel Aviv, Israel; Berlin, Germany; and London, England, as well as its globally distributed, remote workforce• Built a top-rated, highly diverse team of in-house attorneys and paralegals, and efficiently supervised outside counsel• Deeply integrated with deal teams to provide commercial, tax and accounting guidance, in addition to practical legal advice• Developed the business case for the acquisition of SmartThings, Samsung Electronics’ home Internet of Things platform, and later served as SmartThings’ Secretary and General Counsel• Led the legal teams in dozens of acquisitions for Samsung Electronics around the globe, totaling ~$1 billion and including SmartThings, LoopPay (now Samsung Pay), Viv Labs, Joyent, AdGear, Boxee, Innoetics, Fluenty, Kngine and Whisk• Successfully managed litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes for commercial, IP and HR matters • Promoted twice: From Director to Sr. Director in 2015; and from Sr. Director to VP in 2017
