As a Member of Technical Staff at Draper, I contribute heavily to the mechanical engineering aspects of multiple projects, including precision accelerometers and gyroscopes, MEMS devices, microfluidic systems, optical systems, and fixturing. In order to be successful in these projects, I have worked with multiple Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) software packages, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools, experimental tools, and machine shops.

-Characterized micron and sub-micron sized oil droplets in a wave tank after running breaking, plunging, and spilling waves in order to understand the behavior of oil in salt water-Worked with optical equipment including lasers, mirrors, collimators, and high speed cameras to create a holography system that could capture oil droplets passing through a sample volume in the wave tank-Used Matlab and ImageJ software to analyze images for size distribution and location of oil droplets-Became familiar with laboratory equipment including viscometers, refractometers, continuous and pulse lasers, high speed cameras, and piping systems-Performed pendant drop tests to determine surface and interfacial tension values of oils with various dispersant to oil ratios in salt water
