"....Rage, rage, against the dying of the light"-Dylan Thomas-Dylan Thomas wrote the poem "Do not go gentle into the night" in 1951. He wrote this poem to his father who was dying of Cancer. At a young age, I was inspired by this poem and have embraced it as my motto for life. I set goals for myself and have constantly been trying to achieve them, however lofty. If one were to peruse my work experience, they would see a variety of experiences that have created who I am today. I would describe myself as ever-adapting and evolving. At the center of my core, is the desire to improve. I have been a high school teacher for 21 years in the District School Board of Niagara. Throughout those 21 years, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of students that have not only challenged me but inspired me. From academic schools to juvenile detention centers, I have helped encourage students to strive for a better life. As for subjects, I am trained to teach English, History, Law, Experiential Learning, Spec Ed, Physed and Guidance. With a Master's of Science in Education from Niagara University, I am also qualified to instruct in American Universities.Working with the public has been a passion of mine and I have always maintained a second job outside of teaching. Recently, I was working as a Customer Service Representative for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. My main responsibilities involved customer support and inventory, however, I also worked as a shift lead and managed the store when scheduled. This job provided me with a variety of opportunities to learn about the wine, spirit and beer industry throughout the world. What employers can hopefully gather from my summary is that I am a dedicated, honest, driven individual that believes in gratitude and encouraging others. Through written or verbal communication, I can design plans that adapt to my audience and provide the professionalism needed to represent a business or individual. I truly believe in leading by example and helping my colleagues when asked. With a large background in team sports, I know how important it is to lead, but also to join in and tackle problems together. By striving for a better future, I know I can make a difference and become a valuable asset to those who are looking for a dynamic employee.
