About Jonathan Henson, Cmiosh
JONATHAN HENSON, CMIOSH, MSc, BScReady to Serve, Lead and Remain Humblewww.semperparconsulting.netMy name is Jonathan Henson, CMIOSH*. I have a master’s degree in Occupational Safety from Eastern Kentucky University. My safety career started whilst in the US Coast Guard as a Senior Marine Inspector and Senior Investigator. For 15 years I inspected US-flagged vessels in the US, Europe, Middle East and Africa ensuring US regulations were met. As you know, US regulations are minimum standards. Our goal as marine inspectors were to leave the ship or vessel in the best shape possible and ultimately, ensure for the safety of the crew. After the Coast Guard, I leveraged my Coast Guard experience for the shipping, oil and gas and manufacturing industries. In every company I joined, our incident rates decreased. One thing I learned early on was safety is really risk management. Engaging the crew and employees on risk management created a better safety culture which really means, “how we do things around here”. In my nearly 30 years in safety related work, I also investigated incidents from death cases to high potential incidents. This means finding the root causes to prevent similar incidents, which led to lower incident rates. Investigations also discovered the safety culture of small work groups to large, like manufacturing plants and drilling rigs. Now I am in “private practice” available to serve your needs either short or long term. Please reach out to me if you need advice or work on safety management systems, Behavior Based Safety, risk management, safety culture, OSHA regulation compliance, investigations, policies and/or procedures. Please reach out to me via LinkedIn messenger or through my web site noted above.*CMIOSH means Chartered Member, Institution of Occupations Safety (IOSH). IOSH is a UK-based professional certification for non-US countries. CMIOSH is equivalent to CSP in the US. IOSH is one the world's leading professional body for people responsible for safety and health in the workplace. IOSH is the only organization in the world that offers Chartered Membership to health and safety practitioners. A CMIOSH designation is (for) someone who's at the top of their profession. The process to attain the CMIOSH designation was at once rigorous and rewarding.www.semperparconsulting.net
