I am a multidisciplinary building engineer. I specialise in the development of sustainable design strategies and the leadership of teams to translate these into integrated and efficient project delivery.My notable projects include: the 2012 Athletes Village, The Leadenhall Building, and the award winning Siemens Crystal.I have extensive experience as project manager, lead design engineer and project director for a broad range of projects. Many have involved collaboration with internationally recognised architects, coordinating the work of the building services and structural disciplines, with input from a wide range of specialist engineering disciplines. My environmental assessment experience includes the use of BREEAM, LEED, the Code for Sustainable Homes and the Arup Sustainable Project Appraisal Routine (SPeAR). I have in depth knowledge of a wide range of building technologies and systems.I am experienced in the preparation of Planning Application documentation, and coordinating input from all members of the design team. I play an active role in London Planning matters, providing policy input, commenting on emerging policy and actively participating in local planning consultations.Recognised for my specialism in sustainable engineering design I am appointed by the Design Council as a Design Expert, and carry out design reviews for the Design Council, Islington Council and Design South East.I am passionate about the delivery of simple buildings that demonstrate:- Low carbon construction- Smart demand reduction- Effective control that improves well-being and reduces resource consumptionI am inspired to inspire and integrate the work of multi-disciplinary design teams to develop practical projects that are cost effective, reduce their environmental impact and address the challenge of sustainable design for the future.I am increasingly working with not-for-profit and community organisations to support them on their journey to net zero carbon emissions and greater sustainability. I also provide support to community organisations in their response to design proposals and Planning Applications for projects affecting them. I use my experience of large masterplans in particular to guide the lay person, helping them to understand the impact of the project on residents and neighbours. I also help explain the environmental conditions that will be experienced, and the environmental performance of the project, in terms of embodied and operational carbon.
