I come from a strong scientific and analytical background having begun my career as an analytical chemist. I soon discovered that my true passion and talent lies within the data management and software development space and I have never looked back since. I now have over 14 years of commercial experience designing and developing database and interface applications, mostly within the Microsoft SQL Server and .Net (C#) technology stacks. Currently, my true strength lies within the backend technology, particularly the SQL database development and the business logic layers (C#, ASP.Net APIs). I enjoy working with large datasets, from designing robust ETL processes and data storage options to building secure APIs. That said, I am also keen on further developing my skills in all areas of the software development stack, including front-end technologies such as JavaScript and React.In addition to having a strong technical background, I also have very good communication skills, both verbal and written. I have extensive experience in collaborating directly with the business and other stakeholders to understand and provide guidance on their requirements. I understand ideas and concepts quickly and can translate them into logical and practical application designs. I also enjoy the challenges of analytical problem solving and typically won’t rest until I’ve worked out a solution.My key skills are as follows: Analytical problem solving and troubleshooting. Translating business requirements into database and system designs. Solid understanding of network infrastructure and data warehousing. Advanced SQL Server (T-SQL, Queries, Stored Procedures, Functions, Optimization). Working with various data formats including Relational Databases, CSV, XML, and JSON. Proficient in C# programming (Multithreaded, ADO.Net, LINQ, EF, Winforms, ASP.Net APIs). Proficient in VBA programming with MS Excel and MS Access. Intermediate JavaScript (React), HTML and CSS.
