My motivation for joining the British Army back in 2008 was threefold; to serve alongside incredible soldiers, to foster my intrinsic leadership skills and to push my abilities when it came to performing under pressure. 15 years on and with significant experience in a variety of roles across the Army, I’d say I’ve met and exceeded those initial goals. Today, I’d describe myself firstly as a versatile leader and a seasoned logistics professional. But I also have proven successes in human resource management, operational delivery, and organisational transformation, to name a few.Whether executing the tactical plan with a small team or part of a wider collective within a strategic headquarters, I pride myself in operating in unfamiliar territory and bringing diverse teams together. And I have done this around the world. From the home base of the United Kingdom to supporting multinational Armies in Estonia; from responding to the COVID pandemic in England to arranging supply chains for the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone; and from coordinating military support to the civilian authorities to training the Afghanistan National Security Force. In 2020, I kicked my logistics acumen into top gear when seconded to NHS England as Chief of Staff for the COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Chain. Within six weeks, a composite team established the national end-to-end deployment programme for COVID-19 vaccine allocation and equipment distribution which had a physical footprint of >1,900 sites equating to the size of the Sainsbury’s network.I’ve recently been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and my ambitions for what I’d like to accomplish for the Army, and myself, are bigger than ever.

Chief Of Staff Army RecruitingBritish Army May 2021 - Sep 2023Upavon, England, United KingdomWorking alongside the commercial partner, Capita, to reenergise the long-term recruiting contract. With >750 people across 93 locations, each at the heart of delivering operational performance, I was charged with implementing a bold organisational restructure to optimise the workforce. It was achieved through analysis and realignment of resources, utilisation and prioritisation of prime recruiting locations and optimal team compositions. At the request of Army Headquarters, I also supported the commercial team with designing the future recruiting contract as part of the Armed Forces Recruiting Programme. This resulted in subsequently being headhunted as a subject matter expert for all Army recruiting matters during the several rounds of competitive dialogue with prospective contract bidders. Finally, I managed a multi-million-pound additional marketing budget, augmented with a further large cash inject following rationalisation of a dormant fleet. Through collaboration across the recruiting operation, I invested the total budget with a focus on initiatives spanning both the digital and physical domains to improve the inflow of quality candidates. -
Chief Of Staff Covid-19 Vaccine Deployment Supply Chain, Nhs EnglandBritish Army Oct 2020 - Apr 2021London, England, United KingdomIn 2021, I was seconded to NHS England for seven months to create the end-to-end COVID-19 vaccine supply chain, ranked as the largest and most successful vaccination programme in national history. I was a direct report and enabler for the supply director, coordinating design and implementation of the vaccine supply chain. At incredible pace, a network of >1,500 vaccination sites were established and serviced by a complex conglomerate of 3PL providers, NHS colleagues and pharmaceutical companies. The breadth of deliverables included strategy, estates, procurement, inbound and outbound logistics and external stakeholder engagement. The team also ensured a constrained vaccine supply was distributed to the right locations in the right quantities in order that we could vaccinate the government cohort priorities; this was achieved through accurate cohort modelling, provisioning against demand, and sustainable enablement of >3,300 outbound deliveries across the network per week. As a result of support to NHS England during the COVID-19 pandemic, I received the Military Logistician of the Year Award. -
Commander 19 Tank Transporter Squadron: Senior ManagerBritish Army Apr 2019 - Oct 2020Bulford, England, United KingdomThis role came with significant responsibility, assuming command of a 240-soldier squadron with a fleet of >90 heavy equipment transporters. At the beginning of the role, I decided to adopt a transformative approach through true empowerment of the junior leaders, creating a culture where subject matter experts had the freedom to identify improvement opportunities and design the recommendations for strategic improvements. This leader-leader approach realised huge financial efficiencies in year one by reimagining the way in which heavy lift vehicles were tasked and utilised.I also undertook the deployment of >100 personnel and 45 heavy lift vehicles on the multinational Exercise DEFENDER in 2021 to generate vehicle performance data not hitherto collected. On conclusion of the training exercise, I analysed the data to produce a strategic capability review: the result of which identified any capability gaps, as well as providing recommendations for how to mitigate them in the short term. This subsequently informed future Army logistic operating model, concepts, and design. -

I focused on arranging contracts with local suppliers, contractors, and transport agencies to provide intimate real-life support to the whole workforce. We delivered a total service support solution, establishing and maintaining a highly effective partnership with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ARGUS to move medical equipment from sea to mainland, which was crucial to the building of local hospitals and medical training facilities. At the end of the military operation, I led the planning and reconciliation of £13M of Ministry of Defence materiel holdings in Sierra Leone, coordinating their redeployment through the Permanent Joint Headquarters. -
