As Chief Systems Security Officer of the Information Technology Security Division (CSSO/ITSD), I served as a vital advisor to the Director, Information Technology Division, Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Deputy Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for managing critical strategic IT security initiatives to ensure the integrity of the Office of Justice Programs’ mission.

• Managed OJP contractors work load to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, network and data through OJP-OCIO network environment is maintained. • I Authored, developed, and implemented policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and accessibility of OJP systems. • I was responsible for the maintenance of the OJP security baseline posture to guard against unauthorized access to network, and data. Conducted risk and vulnerability assessments on planned and installed OJP-OCIO information systems. • Managed and promoted security awareness training and education among OJP/OCIO staff. Conducted systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews; using automated scanning software to review OJP policies and configurations at there current state. • I play vital role in OJP-OCIO network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate system security policies and configuration. Assessed current security events to determine impact to OJP network environment; implemented and coordinate corrected actions. • Routinely I would provide guidance and assurance of security policies and principles in delivery of all OJP network systems. I served as Chief, Management Information Security Branch.

I was responsible for providing technical analysis and consultation, management and support to ongoing projects in support of the Department of Energy. Provided on-site LAN administration, consulting and customer support for the Department of Energy’s Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Division. I administered an 800 node Novell 4.1/NT 4.0 network running Ethernet star topology spanning several facilities. I ensured the continuous operation of approximately 20 Novell NetWare and Windows NT servers.Analyzed processes, problems, and systems designs of Office of Personnel network. Provided guidance to application programmers on databases in response to ideas for improvement and/or to solve day to day technical problems. Performed troubleshooting hardware and software problems on individual PCs, diagnosing problems and taking corrective action. Conducted studies in support of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) within the Office of Personnel to plan required support services, resolve support problems, and to assist in the acquisition of major hardware and software equipment, and other peripheral devices. Served as expert on assigned system components in project groups responsible for establishing user requirements and for testing and evaluating new and upgraded systems. Provides a continuous range of automation support to the Assistant Secretary for Human Resources Office which has approximately 300 nodes Novell NetWare 3.12. Provided online helpdesk support. Planned, designed, and implemented a Local Area Network with a Windows 95 operating environment for 400 workstations. Conducted one on one and classroom training on various Microsoft Office applications. Conducted market survey major vendors to meet the information technology needs of the department. Maintained a LAN-based system which included client/server, mainframe, DOE-wide network, and desktop workstations.
