Mar 2017 - Jun 2019

Gis Administrator & Sql Dba

Tallahassee, Florida, Us

While working on a 6-month contract with the Division, I was tasked with installing the latest version (10.5.1) of ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal and upgrading all SDE instances. During this process, I reviewed the requirements and discussed various deployment scenarios and product features with the team. Based on feedback, I researched the latest ESRI specs for ArcGIS Enterprise components and provided technical recommendations on servers & functionality. I created a customized diagram of Servers, Network Ports, Major Components, and System specifications that enabled the Systems and Network staff to build what was needed. As I deployed ArcGIS Enterprise on the servers, I worked closely with the IT staff to deliver ahead of schedule. The final ArcGIS Enterprise installation includes multiple ArcGIS Servers, Data Store Servers, and fully Federated Portal connected to Windows Active Directory for user authentication. As the Enterprise GIS Environment was deployed ahead of schedule, the Division was able to successfully utilize it during the Hurricane Irma storm event. Throughout the event, I assisted the systems & network teams with server optimization & troubleshooting during peak usage.During the contract, I performed python code update & review, SDE optimization, large dataset uploads to SQL Server, and Sharepoint troubleshooting & tuning.

Mar 2017 - Sep 2017

Enterprise Gis Systems Lead

Exp Energy Services, Inc

While in this role, I managed the exp GIS Administrators & Developers group across several offices who are responsible for key service areas including Enterprise GIS processes, web application development & support, project database management, and Disaster Recovery preparedness. The team applied standard tools & best practices throughout the project lifecycle to ensure consistency & robust service availability to all project team members. I also worked as a member of the corporate IT group to ensure the Tallahassee data center was optimally configured & highly available and that the Disaster Recovery site was ready when needed.I led technical initiatives across Energy Services projects to ensure that data from various contractors was efficiently uploaded, checked for quality, loaded to project databases, available for download, and accessible in web apps to all project participants. To achieve this, I worked with clients & exp staff to ensure all technical aspects of projects were implemented correctly, efficiently, and on-time. As part of the corporate IT group, I continually evaluated the effectiveness of the implemented solutions vs. business processes and worked with the team to enhance or re-engineer the solutions as needed. Many of these were custom applications and scripts that were written to meet specific project needs. As the solutions matured, we were able to confidently apply them across projects to deliver results.

Nov 2012 - Mar 2017

Gis & It Specialist

Exp Energy Services Inc.

As I started with exp, I analyzed the various technical processes & applications in place to meet the requirements of the projects. I met with exp staff & clients to verify that requirements were met and to learn what could be improved. To manage data flows more consistently & efficiently, I created automated scripts in Python & ESRI Model Builder. The existing Web Mapping Applications were based on out-of-the-box templates and were inefficient & slow, so I researched the latest ESRI Web Mapping technologies that would meet & exceed project business requirements. By reviewing various factors such as implementation cost, long-term maintenance, performance, and developer community support, I was able to determine that ArcGIS for Flex would be a good fit for Web Mapping applications at exp. As a result, I led a project to migrate all legacy Web ADF Web Mapping applications to ArcGIS for Flex. Most of our projects are still using these applications today. As I worked alongside the corporate IT group I was given more responsibilities & became part of the IT group. I analyzed business needs of various internal & external projects and provided purchase recommendations for division-level technology. I continually worked with IT team members from the Infrastructure, Service Desk, and network teams to improve service levels. I led projects to improve the data backup process, increase server & network performance, & bring enhanced security for web applications via reverse proxy technology. As internal exp workflows between geographically separate offices suffered due to distributed servers & network lag, I spearheaded a Citrix project to bring about a solution. The project resulted in centralized servers in the Tallahassee office to provide good performance to all remote staff via Citrix. We were able to deprecate servers in several offices as we centralized. This project was so successful that the corporate IT group deployed & delivered other applications via Citrix.
