Working directly for The Data Shed I was tasked with support of multiple clients working on support tickets across multiple environments and platforms. This mostly consisted of resolving errors within the SSIS ETL packages and code fixes within Stored Procedures. I also needed to quickly understand their SSAS cubes to resolve discrepancies and provide additional metrics where required and additional reports provided through Power BI.This was a full Agile environment with all changes and fixes being deployed through DevOps pipelines.

I was tasked with converting the existing SSRS reports to Power BI while improving their design and efficiency along with creating an improved data warehouse to store the data more efficiently. I was working within a small team and meeting with members of the business at all levels to gather their individual requirements.

I joined starting an exciting project helping to create a new integrations platform utilising Microsoft Azure. While also supporting their existing platform within a SQL environment and providing data reporting services, we were building micro services using C# to collect data from various third party API’s to transport the data between the business systems efficiently. I also completed a vital reconciliations project where I was responsible for sourcing and collating the data and providing various reports in Power BI to the reconciliations team.This was a newly built team and across the business they were embarking on using an Agile framework using Dev Ops which was embraced fully by the whole team.

I was first approached by the CEO of Delineate following a recommendation from a previous client and started working evenings and weekends, but as they were a successful start up the work soon picked up and I was fortunate enough to arrange other commitments around their requirements. I was tasked with designing and building their data marts and created the ETL processes from various third-party API’s. Their main requirement was that all the data was to be stored on the Microsoft Azure platform and run automatically using the Data Factory. The data was then being output in Power BI and I needed to ensure the reports were insightful and efficient. The initial project was required to be handed over to their client, although they still retained the rights to the system which would be used in the future for further clients, this meant everything needed to be portable and easily configurable.The second project was for a high-profile client they had acquired, and the system was again required to be reused for further clients in the future. Although the second project was very similar in that it was required to be Azure based, the feeds were from only one source, but the volume of data was much higher. All the data needed to be stored but the output needed to be controlled through a config file created by the analysts to define the output for a given campaign.

I started working for Tivoli only three days a week, it worked well working with Delineate as at the time there wasn’t enough work or budget to employ me full time.They had just introduced a new system to issue jobs to their workforce, I was tasked with creating a database to retrieve all the job data from this system via the third-party API to be used for management reporting. I subsequently built a web hosted platform so their customers could log in to view when jobs had been scheduled and completed, this was built with web forms using c# and the client reports being provided in SSRS and direct reports to the business within Power BI. This system was then also used to provide the finance department with all the required information for their monthly invoicing.

I was asked to provide short term cover while two permanent SQL Developers were being sourced. The role mostly entailed T-SQL development, resolving issues with SSIS packages and developing the required SSRS reports. Due to the timing of the contract the initial work mostly revolved around GDPR and insuring they were fully compliant with the new regulations. Towards the end of the contract I was tasked with updating the previously out of date documentation to handover to the new developers.

I was originally brought in to provide the reporting framework for the new Asset Management system that was replacing two existing systems. I rapidly gained a good understanding of the underlying database and the new system, Ambit. I initially spent a lot of time with the collections, risk and finance departments creating the stored procedures to accurately calculate various figures for their reporting such as the Capital, GL Balance and Arears. It became apparent that these figures weren’t correctly captured within the data mart, and I moved from the Reporting and Data Team to the ETL team to address these issues, where I was required to resolve issues within the Data Mart and the Data Warehouse using both SSIS and SSAS, utilising SQL, MDX and DAX. Most of these resolutions were due to requirements from the Bank of England so I could build the statutory reporting. I spent my time at Shawbrook liaising with everyone up to the board level.

Working primarily for Bromley Borough Council, I was tasked with designing and developing a database to manage the testing status of applications against a new Windows 7 build. This included scheduling testers and recording the outcomes. Furthermore I built algorithms to check the status of each current machine to determine which could be deployed, these where then scheduled within the database and engineers were provided with reports on when the machines required deployment and the details of everything that was required to attain signoff.The process was tightly monitored with business intelligence being provided to multiple parties to track progress and supply the data required to complete the project. Capita also had the same project to complete for Lewisham Council and I was required to complete the build of a clustered SQL instance and configure reporting services to facilitate the upgrade of their CRM software.I built the database in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and built the front end management system using asp.net (c#) in Visual Studio 2013 including the creation of the SSRS Reports.

I was brought in to improve Black Swan’s existing SSRS reporting platform for several of their key clients and create a generic reporting platform that could be rolled out to the rest of their clients across multiple campaigns. I was tasked with importing and structuring data gathered from social media outlets within a reporting warehouse and efficiently delivering this information to clients. Starting with Blackswan in their infancy was a great opportunity when they only had a handful of staff members, I left when they acquired another company giving them additional resources to continue the work I’d started. The fact the subsequently recommended me to Delineate when they were starting up shows how much I was valued by them in their early days and for them to be included on the FT’s 100 top tech companies to watch list and knowing I played a part in that is something I’m incredibly proud of.

I was tasked with creating a reporting system for Earthport from the ground up - as they expanded they needed to have a better control over their data. I built a system using Crystal Reports Server and data was extracted from multiple sources. Initially there was not a specific reporting database available, and the reports were taken directly from the DR databases, however this proved to be an inefficient way to produce many of the reports and I created a dedicated reporting database and the ETL packages to populate it from the various sources. Earthport was keen to implement Agile Methodology across the organisation, and I was keen to prove the new Business Intelligence team could embrace this.The whole reporting solution was successfully rolled out for everyone in the company, with reports sent to the CEO downwards. I was also responsible for training and managing junior report developers in this respect.
