Jonathan is based out of the Warwick office and joined Pre-Construct Archaeology (PCA) in October 2017. He is responsible for helping expand the presence of PCA in the Midlands and South and is experienced in managing projects from inception through to publication including watching briefs, evaluations, excavations, community excavations, topographical surveys and desk based assessments. Jonathan completed his undergraduate degree at Winchester in 2001 and has been working in Commercial Archaeology since that date. Having started with Winchester Museum Services, Jonathan worked for numerous archaeological units in the South and Southwest before joining Cotswold Archaeology where he stayed until the end of 2008. Working through the ranks and leading numerous large scale sites, notably the Cabot Circus Development in Bristol City Centre. Jonathan has a wide range of experience in both urban and rural sites from small scale developments to large quarries and utility pipelines, most notably the Milford Haven to Wormington gas pipeline. After this Jonathan went to work for English Heritage as part of a team that travelled the country teaching community groups excavation and recording techniques before moving to Worcestershire Archives and Archaeology Service in 2009. Here Jonathan led archaeological investigations and post excavation reports as well as helping to develop their digital recording program and surveying techniques. His interests include aviation, history, conflict archaeology, surveying, geology and landscape archaeology. He has worked on the continent on numerous battlefields, primarily helping in the excavations, reconstructions and public tours at Thiepval Wood on the Somme, Picardy, France. Jonathan was the archaeological surveyor for the Discovery Series ‘Finding the Fallen’ and has worked and appeared in numerous documentary programmes and radio shows about Great War Archaeology as well as presenting numerous lectures on the same subject.
