Xceleron Ltd

York, United Kingdom

I worked as an analyst in a small, Clinical research organisation (CRO). My job entailed testing samples and processing them so that they end up in a form in which they can be run on the accelerator mass spectrometer (AMS) to count radioactive Carbon atoms. Xceleron’s main analytical technique is known as microdosing, using miniscule quantities of radiolabelled drug samples to obtain early PK (Pharmacokinetic) data without having to resort to full therapeutic doses and possible side effects of a clinical trial and the resultant costs. This is termed in the industry as Phase 0. Many of the samples were generated by fraction collecting on HPLCs and I have many years of experience with Agilent systems, more recently with the 1200 models. I also used an LSC counter, a CHN analyser and a sample oxidiser while in this position. I also produced reports for clients based upon the data that I had generated.

I also composed reports and protocols regularly to enable an increased number of products within the stability sector. I delivered informative and engaging training to new team members, ensuring everyone was fully conversant with the requirements of the role and can exercise complete proficiency within the laboratory. Lastly, if work schedules were tight for other streams within QC, my team and I provided assistance to other QC teams and reviewed their work, if this was required.
