Hello, I am a PhD chemical engineer who has work in consulting, research and development, validation, and undergraduate instruction. My validation experiences involve testing, troubleshooting, and performing reliability statistical analysis on fuel cells for General Motors. Most of my research and development (R&D) work involves design, fabrication, LabVIEW control systems, and evaluation of custom high pressure separations and reaction systems, as well as 19 year’s experience in supercritical fluid applications including hazardous locations. Recent consulting for industry have either involved working within or leading a team on cost savings projects ($40k to $1M) ranging from separation and recovery of chemicals from explosives to designing calibration and validation systems for automotive fuel tank level sensors. Many of my consulting and research experiences have also entailed chemical plant design, simulation, capital cost estimation, and plant profitability analysis. I have 21 years of experience using Aspen Plus chemical engineering applications software. In addition, I have provided commissioning and validation engineering expertise for start-up of hydrogenation reaction systems and catalytic dimethyl ether synthesis systems. I have worked as part of a team or lead a team on research projects funded by the National Science Foundation, Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee, Petroleum Research Fund, US Department of the Army, US Department of the Air Force, Leonard Wood Institute, and US Department of Transportation.Examples of projects include Validation of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electrochemistry, Mobile Supercritical Water Reformation of Hydrocarbons to Produce Hydrogen, Conversion of Soybean Oil to Biodiesel using Supercritical Methanol, Partial Oxidation of Benzene, Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Antioxidants from Plants, Impregnation of Antioxidants into Polymer Films, and Extraction of Chemicals from IMX Production Scrap.Examples of Previous Leadership Experience: Six years of national non-profit board of director and CEO leadership experience. Served as a member or officer of various local boards for non-profits. Moderator of Kettering University Faculty Senate. Co-chair of Kettering University President’s Task Force for the Faculty Workload Model and the ThesisTeaching: Capstone Design and Economics, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Separations, Fluid and Heat Transfer, Process Safety, Process Simulations, LabVIEW Control Systems, Prototype Design and Fabrication, Chemical Engineering Laboratories.

Senior Validation Engineer, Fuel Cell Stack And ElectrochemistryGeneral Motors Nov 2021 - PresentDetroit, Michigan, UsAt General Motors, I am the validation team's electrochemical engineer. My role involves designing validation experiments of fuel cell stacks using accelerated protocols to test if the fuel cell will meet program objectives. This work also involves troubleshooting any issues that may come up with the test or hardware and work towards a resolution within a multidisciplinary team. For the fuel cell program, I serve as the statistical and reliability expert and provide consultation on experimental design, Weibull analysis, and data analysis for the team. As part of my job, I distill complex technical issues and data into actionable presentations to inform decision makers. -

Co-Chair President'S Task Force On The Faculty Workload Model And The ThesisKettering University May 2018 - Apr 2019Flint, Mi, UsSuccessfully co-lead with the Provost a task force representing each academic department at Kettering University, as well as staff. The work of the task force was designed to be transparent, thorough, and engaging with the university community with a variety of mechanisms to solicit feedback from the faculty. A workload model was developed based upon faculty feedback, unique aspects of Kettering University's operations, and benchmark comparison to peer institutions. The model is designed to relate back to the financial health of the institution. This effort lead to the first substantial revision of the faculty workload model, adopted by faculty and administration, in over thirty years. -
