I am passionate about plants and have been for a long time. I am currently the Commercial and Business Manager at Johnsons Nurseries Ltd., a hardy nursery stock grower located in the Vale of York in the North East of England. As well as being one of the largest growers in the United Kingdom, Johnsons sources product from across Europe, and has an effective supply chain allowing stock to be brought together from its partner nurseries and distributed to customers throughout the UK.One of my guiding lights is to ensure that I am outside of my comfort zone, to keep pushing and to always be developing myself and my professional skills. I believe in resilience, honesty and passion, remain ambitious and at the heart of it all is my love of plants. I strive to ensure that Johnsons Nurseries Ltd. has a supply chain with the dynamism and flexibility needed within today's ever-shifting Horticultural market.I gained an HND in Horticulture in 1995. After a spell working in the Bedding-plant industry with Pentland Plants in Midlothian, I moved into the production of Hardy Ornamental Nursery Stock with Johnsons of Whixley in 1995. At Johnsons I have held responsibilities in growing roles, managing nursery sites, operational roles, along with taking on Senior Management and Leadership responsibilities at the business. The move into the Senior Management team at Johnsons led to responsibility being taken for the Procurement function of the business before broadening responsibilities to include Johnson's production facilities in the role as Head of Production and Procurement. My current role was a move into a Senior Leadership role with Johnsons as Commercial and Business Manager.
