Jonathan Williams is the President & Chief Executive Officer of the Battleship IOWA Museum / National Museum of the Surface Navy and the President of LA Fleet Week. He successfully led efforts to acquire and convert the historic Battleship IOWA into a top-rated museum nationally and an economic development engine for the Los Angeles Harbor Area. Mr. Williams is also the Co-Founder of LA Fleet Week. His leadership has successfully turned LA Fleet Week into Southern California's largest Memorial Day event and a model for positive public engagement with our sea services.His volunteer and community roles are diverse, serving as a Navy Community Ambassador and a board member of the San Pedro Property Owners Alliance, Historic Naval Ships Association, and the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. Jonathan is a serial entrepreneur, having started his first business in high school, and today enjoys supporting and coaching others.Mr. Williams is a recipient of the U.S. Navy Distinguished Public Service Award, Kentucky Colonel, President's Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Steamship Historical Society's International Commodore of the Year Award.

Since opening the Battleship IOWA Museum in 2012, the ship has become a centerpiece for community activities ranging from education programming to discussions of National significance. The team began planning soon after opening on expanding into a National museum to ultimately make a broader impact. In 2018, the organization officially licensed the National Museum of the Surface Navy from the U.S. Navy and followed suit by obtaining a congressional resolution in 2021, spearheaded by Congressmember Nanette Barragan. When I was recently asked what I felt made us successful, it can be stated simply with a quote from Benjamin Franklin, “You can do anything you set your mind to.” To further expand on this, I feel the formula which has guided our success is a team with good character, an appealing vision with a great story, people and relationships that believe in you, and a burning desire to accomplish the goal. I am blessed to have all of these in my life and incredibly thankful for how far we have come. I hope you consider joining us on this journey.

The idea of LA Fleet Week began in 2015, as a passionate team of people came together to bring alive the LA Waterfront with activity and welcome military service members to Los Angeles. The program rapidly expanded to include leadership symposiums, disaster preparedness exercises, community relations activities, and innovative activations. The core team of planners collaborate to create one of the most popular events in Los Angeles and throughout the Nation annually.The planning team collaboration includes representatives from the military, City & Port of Los Angeles, LA Fleet Week Foundation, USO, and Battleship IOWA / National Museum of the Surface Navy. LA Fleet Week’s Leadership Council includes some of the most influential names in Los Angeles, which have assisted in raising the profile and impact of the event.
