As the lead for Indonesia and Malaysia coverage, I am constantly on the lookout for high-caliber businesses and founders with defensible economic moats, and the rare ability to rise above the macro volatility of our region.

Singapore

- Point person for Singapore coverage tasked with carrying out forward-looking, incisive analysis to make impactful recommendations to the investment team.- Strengthen the international investments team with coverage of ASEAN countries, predominantly Malaysia, Philippines.- Kickstarted the “Digital" taskforce, tasked with building foundational knowledge base across various digital verticals; most notably payments & fintech, mobility and renewables.- Co-manage Global Fund-of-Funds (responsible for external fund manager selection) and 2 Asian ETFs.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

- Assisted a 4-man team in optimizing fund-raising for Malaysia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund- Represented the fund on board a beauty parade with major investment banks in divesting a USD300m stake in an investee company.- Assisted the team in raising the world’s first Social Impact Sukuk – raising MYR1bn of funds to improving the quality of education of children in rural school across Malaysia. The deal was ultimately launched by the then-Minister of Education.

Kuala Lumpur

- Assisted with financial modelling and risk assessment in various capital raising transactions for companies across South East Asia within the Consumer industry.- Worked closely with a small team to develop effective and polished presentation materials for clients such as investment teasers and information memoranda.- Assisted in the drafting of term sheets, non-disclosure agreements, mandates and process letters.

Singapore

- Assisted with financial analysis, forecasting and risk assessment, most noteworthy of which was evaluating the implications of free-falling global oil prices in 4Q2014 on companies in the Oil & Gas supply chain in the region.- Supported Senior Financial Analyst in analyzing Asian equities

Singapore

- Helped scrutinize policies and global events, most prominently protests in Thailand and Ukraine and forecasting its potential political, economic or social effects within Asian countries for the Singapore govt.- Contributed to weekly updates on political situations within the region to the office of various ASEAN leaders.- Collaborated to advise domestic SWFs on various fiscal policies implemented by countries within the region as part of its investment process.
