I spent 7 years as a GS Mechanical Engineer at Naval Surface Warfare Center - Philadelphia. During this career, I travelled the country and world, leading structural assessment teams tasked with inspecting hull structure of US Navy, US Coast Guard, and Royal Saudi Naval ships. The inspections culminated in my team and I preparing repair packages for Port Engineers to plan for during future ship's availabilities. The goal was to fight corrosion, a never-ending problem for steel vessels floating in salt water.After moving from Pennsylvania to Oregon in 2014, I became a Deputy Sheriff at Clackamas County Sheriff's Office in 2015. During my time as a Patrol Deputy Sheriff, I engaged with the community, performed high-quality criminal investigations, and received a Life-Saving Award which reached international media after performing CPR on an 8 day old baby. I was a Field Training Officer, and member of the Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Technicians (CRAFT) team. While performing collateral duties as a CRAFT Deputy, I investigated multiple Officer Involved Shootings (OIS), fatal and criminal-level vehicular crashes, and other crime scenes.I inevitably was forced to leave Law Enforcement after career ending injuries, finally ending with an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) in which I had to fire my rifle from inside my patrol vehicle at a fleeing suspect. The incident led to severe ear damage and was the motivation for co-founding Bayani Designs, LLC where I invented the Patent Pending "Ready Ears" collection of hearing protection storage units. Ready Ears were initially aimed at Military and Law Enforcement members, but quickly grew to the industrial market as well. Anyone that works in a loud environment can benefit from carrying a Ready Ears product. I continue to work on product development as well as sales. As well as Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) design work, I am responsible for coordinating with various industrial machine shops to get Ready Ears products produced in the USA. It is my responsibility to chose appropriate material selection and coating methods, as well as working with vendors to reduce Costs of Goods Sold in order to maximize profit while offering a competitive market price, without sacrificing product quality.
