About Jonathan Barry

Jonathan Barry is a futurist and impact investor on a mission to unite an ecosystem of exceptional companies that combine exponential technology with regenerative innovation to achieve symbiosis between technology, humanity and nature.After a near death experience in 2009 he had a profound awakening that compelled him to shift his focus towards creating a more sustainable and regenerative future.For 15 years, Jonathan has built companies, published 2 books, spoke on hundreds of stages, and partnered with global organizations to create systemic change towards a regenerative future.As an author and speaker, he traveled the world hosting business leadership seminars with The Mind Lab Institute. This program supported people to apply the scientific method to their goals and utilize meditation to unlock the full power of their mind to design their life and vision of the future. As an educator and curriculum designer, his book “Hack Your Education” has been published as a curriculum in universities and high schools internationally and his sustainability program was adopted by the US Military and Dept of Education in Hawaii, saving the State of Hawaii over $8M in energy costs annually. Jonathan established his first non profit in 2011, and since has supported numerous subsidiaries, raise millions of dollars in resources and support for natural disasters, education programs, sustainable development initiatives, and empowering intergenerational engagement. In 2012, he was selected by the UN to support in the creation of the Sustainable Development Goals.Currently he runs Future House Advisory which supports best in class founders in raising capital to scale real solutions, as quick as possible.

However, they have begun to see a shift in trends in the type of education needed in the job market. Education is going digital, students are seeking new types of education, and need more skills based training.Hogeschool Leiden’s most prestigious program is the Bachelor of Law degree, yet they have a 50-60% dropout rate in the first year. In order to increase student retention, the school hired Jonathan Fritzler (Hawaii), founder of EducationEnergy.net, and Diederik Bosscha (Holland), founder of Dock20.org, along with Hogeschool Leiden’s teachers Chris Jan Geugies, Kirsten Diepenbroek, Manuela Fabiao, to design and implement a 10 week pilot program (one semester) based on Hack Your Education, with the goal to increase student engagement, community participation, and long-term investment of students.
