The US is the 2011 APEC host nation. The National Center for APEC will be the lead organization in the APEC 2011 Private Sector Host Committee. I was a half time temporary US Department of Commerce Senior International Trade Specialist detailed to the NCAPEC office to work on special SME related APEC issues and programs during 2011, when the U.S. was the APEC "host economy."

Key initiatives: Low cost/high impact national office expansion program to cover emerging Indian international business cities; remains in place today. “Domestic trade missions” leveraging embassy influence to allow US business access to senior state government level officials. Co-founded American Business Council (now AmCham) India.• Manila (1990-1992): Two American and ten local employees in two offices. Maintained active trade promotion program under difficult security and infrastructure conditions.• Kuala Lumpur (1986-1990): Two American and six local employees. Key initiative: Cut costs by closing field office and consolidating staff and library resources into one site.
