As State Director of the Alaska SBDC I oversee seven regional centers and 15 staff members to ensure that the organization continues to provide accessible, high quality business assistance services to individuals and existing businesses. My role includes program management, advocacy and fundraising duties in addition to serving as the Lead Investigator for the various grant programs that are run through AK SBDC.The State Director also serves as a member of the University of Alaska's Business Enterprise Institute's (BEI) leadership team and provides strategic planning and advocacy services for both the AK SBDC and BEI. This includes not only building new relationships within the University and BEI system, but also developing deeper collaborations with community and business organizations across the state.

As Vice President, I am tasked with managing the day to day operations of AEDC including managing the budget, HR, staff training, public relations, public speaking and liaising with State and Municipal government entities. I am also tasked with developing new projects and initiatives that will drive the organization forward. Those projects and initiatives are focused around bringing new industries to Anchorage through national and international outreach as well as working to grow new industries and develop existing businesses locally using modern economic development techniques suited to the unique nature of the Alaskan economy.

As Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Commerce, I oversee the Divisions of Economic Development, Banking & Securities and the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. I also serve as the Department’s representative on the Boards of AIDEA/AEA, ASMI, AHFC, the Alaska Food Resource Working Group, the Anchorage Economic Development Corp, the Arctic Ad Hoc Working Group, the Alaska Geospatial Council, and the Alaska State Council on the Arts Strategic Planning Committee. I am responsible for supporting the Divisions and corporations in my portfolio, helping to craft policy and messaging for the various programs within the Department, initiating new programs and areas of focus as well as serving as the public face of the Department’s efforts.

I also assist the Municipality of Anchorages’ 49th State Angel Fund to help vet applicants and promote the development of venture and angel capital programs in Alaska.

My position focuses on business retention and attraction through national site selection firm outreach and local economic research as well as growing existing businesses through marketing, financing research, business collaboration and market research. I also oversee AEDC's GIS based commercial real estate and demographic reporting system, AnchorageProspector.com.

Served as a staff geologist, conducting field geochemical studies and preliminary research on existing and potential mineral prospects, was responsible for GIS analysis and map creation for various projects and investor relation materials, and performed a variety of other project assistance and administrative roles.

Researched Federal Stimulus grant opportunities for organizations and businesses in Alaska, created the Alaska Clearinghouse website and core information database, preformed community outreach to explain the ARRA to organizations across Alaska.

Preformed administartive duities as assigned, including basic IT work, scheduling, constituent relations, and resource development related meetings.

Created GIS maps and managed geodatabases using the entire ArcGIS suite of programs. Created company standards and best practices tutorials for several scientific programs used at Terrasat for other employees use. Conducted geophysical modelling, hydrologic modelling and geochemical analyses using a variety of programs.

Managed all Anchorage based volunteers (ranged from 4-15 at any given time), created and managed a GIS and Access database of supporters for media outreach and support, conducted community outreach efforts adn public marketing campaigns on behalf of the No on 4 organization.
