Acting Director Of Security At National Bio And Agro-Defense Facility
CurrentThe primary role of this position is to serve as the Director of Security, Investigations, Threat Management, Counterintelligence, and Emergency Management, for the federal government’s new State of the Art 1.25-billion-dollar National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility. This state-of-the-art facility is a national asset, one of only four in the world, and the only one in the United States. A Bio Risk Security Level 4 High Containment facility that helps protect the nation’s agriculture, food supply & public health against the threat and potential impact of serious diseases.As the Director, my typical work assignments and daily responsibilities include planning formulating and taking action to resolve issues and implementing improvements to Security. Overseeing all physical security devices beginning with the campus entry control points, perimeter fencing, multiple facilities and main laboratory.I routinely conduct or lead investigations relating to alleged or suspected violation of criminal laws and violations of security regulations, policies, and procedures. Implement and execute NBAF security and emergency management programs and lead the evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the security program. Serve as the expert in the overall management, implementation and monitoring of security policies and procedures intended to safeguard the security of employees and assets at the NBAF. Remain updated on relevant USDA policies and other information in order to support regulatory compliance and secure operations of NBAF. Oversee daily operations of the unit, which involves planning and coordinating work with staff, documenting and presenting information, and identifying and implementing security conditions or requirements.
