Betterpath, an early phase data-driven healthcare startup in NYC. We're trying to take an innovative approach to improving patient outcomes across a number of serious diseases. We have a fantastic team of data scientists, developers, physicians, patients, and senior leaders in the healthcare industry. I was the first full time employee. I was responsible for developing and implementing the strategic vision of the CEO. My responsibilities included: designing the team structure; hiring and managing the team of software developers, product designers, data scientists and operations support staff; supporting the CEO during multiple successful rounds of capital raise; setting up and managing HR and accounting systems; supervising data analysis of de-identified electronic medical records data and insurance claims data.

Volunteer EMT and ambulance driver.

Studied machine learning and statistical inference for analysis of biological time series data (FRET) with emphasis on variational techniques and complexity control for generative models. Developed an open source software platform to help experimental biophysicists analyze their own data (available for download at http://vbfret.sourceforge.net/).

Studied directed evolution and high throughput screening to evolve novel enzymes to synthesize small molecule drugs.
