I am a doctoral scholar at Cardiff University with a specialism in Film Musicology. My PhD thesis, due for completion in early 2025, traces a genealogy of Lydian modality in blockbuster film. I am currently writing my fifth and final chapter which considers how Lydian modality is intersubjectively conceptualised as a meta-cinematic gesture in contemporary listening cultures. I also lecture and teach undergraduate modules in Film Musicology and have previously examined in Music at Cardiff University.Prior to doctoral study I graduated with a Bachelors in Music (BMus) from Cardiff University and was awarded the Morfydd Owen Scholarship and John Morgan Lloyd Musical Performance Scholarship. I received a Master of Arts in Musicology (MA) and Master’s Excellence Scholarship from Cardiff University in 2020 for Composition and was awarded a Music Faculty Scholarship in 2021 to fund my doctoral research. I was President of the Cardiff University Music Society as an undergraduate, responsible for running 10 large ensembles and managing an elected committee of 15 student representatives. I have arranged various works for orchestras and bands (including two musicals) and I am highly skilled on piano, double bass, electric bass and saxophone. I have also directed a professional wedding and events function band since 2018 and I DJ regularly at weddings. Alongside my studies I am an experienced financial services professional with over 10 years’ experience in Banking. I am currently employed by Starling Bank as a KYB/AML subject matter expert, primarily responsible for writing procedures and managing complex cases across Customer Onboarding and Periodic Review. I have a strong knowledge of industry regulations (particularly in AML and Consumer Duty) and have overseen creation of various work streams and processes in Customer Operations.
