As Director in the region I am responsible for seeking out new business opportunities. By focusing on remittance and financial education projects I seek out projects which can empower migrant communities across the region. Working both indivually and with my colleagues at DMA Global I have extensive research experience across the Asia Pacific region. I have overseen a range of projects over the past thirteen years in the fields of migration, diaspora, remittances, and from the broader socio-economic impact of COVID-19. A women’s economic empowerment lens is applied to all projects. I always seek to match businesses and private investors with the right opportunities. Having an intricate knowledge of the niche remittances and financial empowerment industry helps to make good connections. I particularly enjoy the research aspect of the role and then managing the process to ensure it works for the greater good.

SendMoneyPacific.org (SMP) is a web-based information portal for Pacific Migrants supported by the Australia and New Zealand governments. The website lists all the costs involved in sending money from Australia and New Zealand to 8 Pacific countries, and from the United States to Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. The site is World Bank endorsed and helps to increase transparency of the fees and exchange rate costs associated with sending money to the Pacific.Having worked on SendMoneyPacific.org from its conception was incredibly rewarding and I was able to witness the change in services and pricing that occurred across the region with increased transparency and accountability. From 2009 when SMP launched through to 2020, MTO costs fell from 16.5% to 7.9% from Australia. The proliferation of new remittance services and send methods was exemplified by the growth in available MTO services from Australia and New Zealand, rising from 37 in 2009 to 187 in 2020.

SendMoneyAsia.org (SMA) was a web-based information portal for Asian Migrants living and working in Australia. The project was initiated by the Australian government and has been developed as a result of the success of the SendMoneyPacific.org (SMP) project in reducing remittance costs to the Pacific. SMA was integrated into SaverAsia.com when it launched in 2018.
