Education Specialist
Current-Serve as the teacher on record for students with Mild/Moderate Support Needs at a TK-5 elementary school-Coordinate and participate in the identification, assessment, and instructional planning process of the Special Education Program as a member of the IEP Team-Arrange for and conduct appropriate assessments needed to define students' specific learning needs and provide specialized areas of instruction-Assume responsibility for writing the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for all students on caseload, including annual goals-Monitor and evaluate student progress toward goals and objectives and coordinate in annual reevaluations of IEPs by presenting assessment data and proposed instructional plan for approval or modification, including for private school students and middle school students as needed-Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student-Create an effective environment for child-centered learning-Communicate with parents through a variety of means to discuss student progress and parent concerns-Assist in the coordination of instruction and services to implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) model-Provide consultation and support services to general education teachers for students utilizing the Special Education Program, including students participating in the K-8 virtual independent study program-Assist in identifying training needs for paraprofessionals-Participate in the Compliance Improvement Monitoring (CIM) process to effect positive outcomes for students with disabilities
