Director for Professional Development at the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership. Jonathan has a wide expertise in developing and delivering large-scale, strategic education projects in the UK and Internationally. He is the strategic lead for the IOE's leadership and early career teacher programmes which includes the Early Career Framework and National Professional Qualifications. Under his leadership, UCL Centre for Educational Leadership has established itself as one of the largest and most successful national providers of teacher development programmes working with over 30,000 teachers each year.He is a highly experienced leader and manager. His work is focused on education system reform and he leads the University’s international consultancy work in this area working with ministries of education, overseas development partners, NGO’s and universities to develop sustainable approaches to education reform.He has a demonstrable track record for project management and the delivery of complex partnership projects at scale.IOE is the world's leading Centre for education and related areas of social science. In the most recent QS World University Rankings,2022, IOE was ranked number one for education worldwide.

Managing Director for the International Business Unit at the National College for Teaching and Leadership. He developed the College's International Strategy and worked with governments and education organisations world-wide advising on sustainable approaches to education system reform. He was responsible for a profitable £multi-million business built on the National College’s world-leading reputation. He led a team of 35 including a delivery team based in India. He developed a successful marketing strategy that ensured the College's programmes and qualifications were delivered to over 2000 international participants each year.In 2014, as part of Government Changes to NCTL, he became a Senior Civil Servant in the Department for Education with a wider International responsibility at a governmental level and working closely with other Government departments such as the Department for International TradeHis work has supported the growth of education exports and he actively promoted the brand of UK Education. He worked extensively in Asia, the Middle East and EU accession countries. He led educational leadership contracts in, for example; China, India, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Lithuania. He is particularly proud of his work for Government of India/UKIERI leading the establishment of Centres of Excellence for School Leadership Development across India. He was responsible for establishing a number of successful partnerships including a leadership centre in China with the University of Nottingham. He has considerable experience of learning technologies and led the design and development of a wide range of innovative international school leadership development programmes.

His role combined a strategic responsibility for e-learning with a wider corporate responsibility. He led the delivery of award-winning,online systems, processes and content that became the centre of the College’s scaleable aproach to school leadership development. At its peak over 30,000 school leaders a year were enrolled on NCSL programmes.His e-Learning role covered all aspects of learning design and he led the design of a number of the College’s national leadership programmes working in partnership with, for example, the University of Manchester, the BBC .in 2008 he was given corporate responsibility to lead the development of a strategy to increase professional engagement with NCSL. This including introducing a new, innovative membership scheme which achieved a membership of 100,000 education professionals who were able to access a wide range of benefits, including innovative online networking and leadership development opportunities.

He held a number of roles at GlaxoSmithKline most latterly as New Media Manager where he was responsible for the development of a number of award-winning e-Learning leadership and technical programmes when e-Learning was in its infancy. He started work at Glaxo Group Research as an imaging scientist and his work contributed to the design of pharmaceutical inhalation delivery devices.
