Global Director Of It, Technical ArchitectureSyncreon Jan 2013 - Dec 2019Auburn Hills, Michigan, UsMY ROLE: Reporting directly to the CIO, I led a team that included one direct report and five dotted line reports. I managed global IT architecture and designed robust, cost-effective infrastructure solutions for 100 facilities globally – including data centers, servers, networks, and storage. I provided the technical vision and drove change to move IT forward. As part of this process, I researched new technologies and led proof-of-concept evaluations to ensure they would add value to our company. MY CONTRIBUTIONS:New Data Center: I selected and led the $5M build of a new, modernized greenfield data center with mission-critical recovery and redundancy for clients who require 100% uptime. This project is now considered one of the most successful in the company’s history. > Results: Reduced data center footprint by 50%, reduced co-location costs by 40%, telecom costs by 60%, and Internet/Inter-site costs by 80% -- with 100% SLA uptime. We pioneered Syncreon’s first cloud solution utilizing AWS to support China business. I developed the business case and championed the concept to leadership, then drove automation for cloud deployment and management.> Results: Avoided local security issues, reduced cost of deployment, and provided agile on-demand support of the business. I championed and introduced the Rubrik enterprise backup solution -- selling the concept to C-Suite and driving the change company-wide. > Result: Reduced backup-related service desk issues by 99%.> Notable: As part of this process, I provided feedback to Rubrik that was instrumental in the development of their system.My team moved IT to a higher standard with architecture design reviews and consistency throughout the infrastructure. We were the driving force for a new collaborative approach that ensured new deployments were following data center standards, processes, and procedures.> Results: Significant improvement in system availability and a reduction in human error. -
